I firmly believe that building a therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is at the heart of counselling. This relationship is built on honesty, trust and sincerity.
Counselling is talking with someone who is separate from your usual life. It provides an opportunity to explore and work through difficult and sometimes painful issues that are troubling you, both from the past and in the present. It is not about telling you what to do or giving out advice. Be assured that whatever you choose to talk about, I will never treat you differently or judge you.
Counselling can help gain a better understanding of difficulties you may be experiencing. Sometimes these can be triggered by situations you find yourself in or perhaps unconsciously you are setting up defence mechanisms that might be working against you.
I work with adults and young people over the age of 18 on an individual basis within my private practice. Due to the current situation with COVID-19, I now work outdoors in a natural space (see the Outdoor Therapy page) or online via Zoom. If you would like to know more about working online then I can email you an information pack with all the details about how this would work.
Having counselling may not always be an easy experience but it can be immensely rewarding and beneficial.
